Liga MX Recap – Pumas UNAM surged to the top of Liga MX by picking up a pulsating 3-2 victory over Toluca at the weekend. It trailed 2-1 at the break, but a second-half brace from Juan Ignacio handed it all three points. Club América’s climbed up to second after beating Atlas 2-0, which was its third win in a row. León is now third following its surprise 3-1 defeat away at Atlético San Luis. We tipped both teams to score and over 2.5 goals in that game, but did not expect León to lose.

Tigres Toppled

We predicted a win for Santos Laguna and it duly delivered, beating Tigres UANL 2-1. That left it ninth in the standings, but level on points with eighth placed Necaxa, which has now lost two on the bounce. Querétaro is now up to fourth after beating Necaxa 3-2, while in-form Juárez and Cruz Azul occupy fifth and sixth. San Luis is up to seventh after that fine victory over León.

Monterrey Struggles

It is surprising to see Monterrey bottom of the table and winless after six games. It won Torneo Apertura at the end of 2019, and it is also champion of North America, but it is in woeful form right now. A 1-1 draw with Juárez at the weekend was not enough to lift it off the bottom of the table. Our Liga MX recap should point out that Puebla, Toluca, Guadalajara and Club Tijuana are all struggling too. None of those teams have won in their last five games.

Can Pumas Pounce?

There are some big games to look forward to next weekend. León should get back to winning ways when it hosts Necaxa, which has lost two on the bounce. Cruz Azul vs Tigres UNAL looks like an interesting game, and both teams to score could appeal at -110. Can Pumas UNAM maintain its winning streak? 888 Sport is offering +105 on it to beat Monarcas Morelia at home this weekend and that looks very attractive.
