Liga MX Weekend Recap and Week 6 Preview – León held its lead at the top of Liga MX after securing a 3-1 victory over Apertura champion Monterrey at the weekend. We advised bettors to go for both teams to score and over 2.5 goals, and it did indeed turn into a goal fest. The visitors led 1-0 approaching the break, but Nicolás Sánchez was sent off and Luis Montes equalized. Ismael Sosa put León 2-1 up after the break, and Montes added a second with 15 minutes to go.

Juárez Continues Impressive Run

Pumas UNAM remains second after thrashing Atlético San Luis 4-0. A Carlos González Espinola brace was the highlight in that game. We also tipped both teams to score and over 2.5 goals in the Juárez v Necaxa game, and it duly finished 2-1 to Juárez. That left Gabriel Caballero’s men third in the table. América is up to fourth after back-to-back wins. Cruz Azul maintained its upturn in form by beating Pachuca 3-1. Both teams had a man sent off in that game.

Monterrey Left Rock Bottom

Jairo Tarres was also sent off for Atlas in its 3-1 home defeat to Monarcas Morelia at the weekend. That took the tally to four red cards for the weekend, which is pretty conservative by Liga MX standards. That result carried Morelia off the bottom of the table. It is remarkable to note that Monterrey is now bottom of the standings after winning Torneo Apertura in December.

Busy Week Ahead

There is a raft of Copa MX action to look forward to in midweek. Santos Laguna hosts Monterrey for the first leg of their quarter-final clash on Tuesday night, while Tijuana takes on Morelia, Pachuca faces Toluca, and Dorados faces Juárez. Then Liga MX resumes with some big games at the weekend. The action gets underway when Atlético San Luis hosts León on Friday evening, and the +135 that 888 Sport is offering on an away win looks great. Morelia is also well priced to beat Tijuana, while both teams to score could be a good option in the Monterrey v Juárez game. América -1 Asian handicap might also tempt you when it hosts struggling Atlas.
